Virtually No Mowing* - Designed to Grow to a Dwarf Height
Once Cutting Edge™ is established our blend is designed to grow to a dwarf height and then to slow down its growth rate. The result is a truly low maintenance lawn that is designed to only need mowing once or twice in the spring and the same in the fall. Some customers report no mowing at all while still maintaining, what they call, an attractive “managed look”.
Can Grow Up to 48 Inch Deep Roots*
A Cutting Edge™ lawn is a true low maintenance lawn. This is in large part due to its deep root structure.
Drought Tolerant
Many established Cutting Edge™ lawns thrive on only naturally occurring rainwater and/or ambient groundwater. This is because a Cutting Edge™ lawn can grow roots up to 48 inches deep. This deep, groundwater seeking, root structure, along with carefully designed cultivars, allows Cutting Edge™ to thrive during dry conditions.
Endophyte Enhanced - Insect Resistant
We use Endophyte enhanced cultivars. These cultivars have naturally occurring micro-organisms and fungus that helps repel insects and improve stress tolerance. Due to this Endophyte enhancement, Cutting Edge™ should not be used where grazing animals or horses may eat the grass.
Rhizomatous - Combats Weed and Crabgrass Growth
We also use Rhizome enhanced cultivars that promote robust horizontal growth of roots and shoots. This is what allows Cutting Edge™ to fill- in quickly and thickly and help crowd out crabgrass and weeds without the use of herbicides.
Virtually No Fertilizing
Cutting Edge™ can do very nicely with little to no fertilization*. We recommend leaving the grass clippings if one does choose to occasionally mow their Cutting Edge™ lawn. This low maintenance approach is often all that Cutting Edge™ needs to maintain its lush blue/green Kentucky Bluegrass cultivars. In some cases, fertilizing once in the fall may be necessary to compensate for a lack of nutrients in the soil. We also caution that over-fertilizing can increase any lawn’s susceptibility to disease.
Gray Leaf Spot Resistant
We use cultivars that promote Gray-Leaf Spot disease resistance.
Salt Resistant
Cutting Edge™ will tolerate higher salt environments compared to many other blends. This means Cutting Edge™ should be your first choice for ocean front lawns or grassy areas near highways, parking lots and other areas exposed to higher salt levels
Plant Like Any Other Cool Season Grass
Cutting Edge™ is installed like any other typical cool season C-3 blend. Cutting Edge™ germinates and establishes itself quickly.
Designed for Sun and Shade
Cutting Edge™ works equally well in both sunny and shady areas.

Reduced use of water, fertilizer, insecticide and mowing makes for a more child, pet, and environmentally friendly product.
